Q. Tell me more about the windows and
why you use them?
A. We offer replacement
vinyl windows that are custom built to fit within the opening of an existing
window. Because the windows are made to fit exactly the original opening,
they can be installed without disturbing any areas around the window itself,
and still provide superior energy efficiency.
Q. What kind of warranty
do you offer?
A. Your windows will be
free of manufacturers defects and backed by a Lifetime warranty - for
as long as you own your home.
Q. I’m looking for an energy
efficient window. How can I be sure my window is energy efficient?
A. A. Always look for the U Factor
of the window. The U Factor is a measurement for heat transfer in glass.
For example, 0.1 to 1.5 is a normal range for glass. 1.5 is a normal number
for a single pane window, and 0.5 is normal for a double pane insulated
window. A Low E and Argon filled unit could be 0.25. A triple pane can
be as low as 0.1. Just remember, the lower the number, the better!!
A Low E Coating on the inside of the glass
deflects the ultra violet rays that may fade your carpet and window coverings.
Argon is a wonderful insulation feature. Adding this to your windows will
keep your house warmer in the winter. Also, make sure the windows you
have installed are Energy Star rated.
Finally, the warranty of the window is
extremely important. Warranties vary in length from a 10 year warranty
to a lifetime warranty. Keep in mind, in the event you need to replace
windows in the next 15 years due to a manufacturers defect, you’ll
want to have the coverage. My suggestion…choose a product with a
lifetime warranty!
Also, make sure your windows are installed
by an AAMA (American Architectural Manufacturers Association) certified
installer. The efficiency of your window won’t matter if it isn’t
installed to the manufacturers specifications to receive the tightest
seal possible from water, air and insect infiltration.
