Dear Scott,
When Pete and I realized that we needed substantial home attention after the BIG hail storm there were a number of major concerns. #1) Money, #2) timing (surely we'd have to wait till spring/summer which would totally mess up our plans to landscape our back yard, #3) our friend's horror stories about working with construction people with the delaying tactics, messy work, etc. #4) having work done while we were at work and couldn't oversee, and #5) choosing the color of the siding- I mean, going from GIANT white snowball of a house to an attractive abode was nearly too much to even think about. Where would we start!!??? (Just start with Jay Yahn!)

So, to put it mildly, we were overwhelmingly PLEASED, SURPRISED, THRILLED, at the work that you, Jay Y., JJ, Matt, Paul and Ken (and the roof and gutter guys who came and went so quickly that we never met them) did for us. Scott, the work you did with State Farm made the crucial difference between us being able to do this project and still send our son to college (he was really glad). Thank you especially for all those phone calls.

Jay Y. was wonderful in helping us choose the roofing, the gutters (the covered gutters are Pete's favorite part) and most of all, the Driftwood grey siding. He and I stood at various points around the house with the little 3" square sample (next to the peach colored brick, next to the black door, etc.) and calculated how it would look from the street - it turned out beautifully. As my son said, "It looks like a house should look, Mom - Sweet!" Countless people traveling down Old Sauk Road have told us it looks great.

As to the guys, they were all knowledgeable, informative, and great craftsmen. Matt explained everything, and Paul was a genius (he told me to tell you that, and I told him I would). All weird balcony bits and porch oddities and siding measurement... didn't faze any of them. They did a super job. And, they had to deal with snow and cold, and working around the holidays...

They tidied up, nothing was left undone, the workmanship looks great, the project add-ons that had to be quickly decided on seemed reasonable and everyone was courteous, funny and, well, like family. And the entire job was done in like two weeks! Now our big old white snowball with moss growing on the north side is an eye catching, warm (insulation was amazing), quiet (no more Old Sauk "raceway"), lovely grey structure in the pines. Certainly, if we had to sell it we finally could, but now we wouldn't want to sell it, 'cause it's so lovely.

So now, whether we're at the grocery store, the library, the Union, etc. and we overhear someone say, "I've got this roof that needs fixing..." we pipe up, "CALL FREY!" Have a great 2011. Thanks for everything.

“Scott, Jenn and entire Frey Construction staff, Thank your for our new kitchen which is beautiful, functional and comfortable. We are now used to seeing our new kitchen. However, when someone sees our new kitchen for the first time their reaction sometimes catches us by surprise. We know that when we decide to sell our house in the future we will recoup our entire investment. This was a huge project and living without a kitchen is a major inconvenience. Your project managers kept everything moving expeditiously and completed the kitchen remodel in much less time than we thought possible.

You and the entire staff worked very well with us. We had very definite ideas on what we wanted. You proceeded to give us many different ideas and drawing for the kitchen based on what was important to us. Even after we decided on a ‘final’ plan and the project was underway we made changes tot he plans. We decided midway through the project we also wanted the bathroom redone, and it was completed.

Whenever we had a question or concern someone from Frey was very quick to contact us. We weren’t always readily available and we had to depend on you or the project manager to address issues, and at times make decisions on our behalf. We wanted a lot of electrical outlets and good lighting in the kitchen and that is what we got. We had specific flooring design and color in mind but we could not find what we wanted. Jenn had walked every step of the project with us and knew what we were looking for. She did an excellent job of finding flooring which we okayed even though we hadn’t see the product. Jenn was great help in making a decision for a tile backsplash that turned out beautifully.

All of the Frey employees and subcontractors were friendly and were very good at their job. The workers went out of their way to find siding to match what was already on the house. That was not easy because the siding on our house is no longer available. We appreciated that the workers cleaned up every night. The finishing carpenters did an excellent job of making crown moulding for the cabinets where the standard moulding wouldn’t work. There were things we never thought of such as a garbage disposal in the prep sink. Even though we have not yet installed the second disposal all the wiring and plumbing is ready for one.

Another feature we appreciated about Frey was that there was not “up sell” pressure. You gave us considerable latitude in choosing the features we wanted. We didn’t want solid surface countertops and we didn’t want ceramic tile flooring. Even though those are big ticket items in a kitchen remodel we had already decided those products were not consistent with our needs. To Frey’s credit, no one told us we were making bad choices and no one tried to convince us to change our selection. We couldn’t be more pleased with the laminate countertop we chose. Unless told differently people think our countertops are solid surface. The flooring also appears to be ceramic tile but again the cushioned vinyl that you choose for us is easy to stand on, easy to clean, and is much warmer than ceramic tile would have been.

Again thank you to everyone at Frey for your patience with us and for the beautiful end product. We appreciate that you paid attention to what we wanted. You didn’t try to give us a kitchen that was more than we wanted or a kitchen that would have been the more profitable for your company. If you ever want us to open our kitchen to potential customers we will be very happy to do so.
