Project done for
Eric Applebaum |
|
Eric Applebaum of Spring Green
is our client of the month. Eric knew of Frey Construction because
he was referred to our company by Kraemer Brothers, for his
siding and roofing remodel project. Eric's home is one more
"feather in our cap" that shows that there is no job
that ours crews are not willing to tackle. Eric was in need
of new shingles and siding - which happened to be on a 52 foot
high walls of his Taliesin style home. A job we were eager to
take on. With the proper safety equipment in place, our roofing
and siding crews went to work tearing off the existing siding
and shingles down to the decking. From there we removed and
replaced the rotten wood. We then installed a 2x4 Batten System
for better ventilation and 1" foam to improve the energy
efficiency of the Applebaum home. It was now time to install
the new materials! Natural Stained Hardi-Fiber Cement Siding
and Fascia. Charcoal 40 year GAF/Elk High Definition Shingles
and our exclusive Absolute Gutter - the ULTIMATE water dispersing
system™ were installed. The project presented us with
a few challenges, but in the end, we overcame them and the Applebaum
home now shows as the peice of art that it is meant to be! Thank
you Eric for choosing Frey Construction for your remodeling
project! It was a pleasure to work on your home and to work
with you.

Past Project
done for
Robert & Ruth Ann Berry
|
|
|
If you have
ever driven down Hwy 23 through Plain, we're sure you've noticed
the beautiful home of Robert and Ruth Ann Berry. Robert and Ruth
Ann came to Frey Construction and wanted to re-roof their home.
There was just one catch - their current roof had been installed
at a time when asbestos was used in roofing materials. Not a problem
for our roofing crew. We were just careful to make sure we prepared
our crews with the proper training through the state of Wisconsin
and GAF-ELK for asbestos abatement. Some of the steps we were
careful to follow were the removal and disposal of the materials
that contained the asbestos. This process required our crews to
wear protective gear and masks to protect themselves. Once we
made sure that the asbestos material was properly removed and
disposed of, we went to work installing a new slate roofing system
for the Berry's. Slate shingles have a stigma that they are heavy
and expensive...but guaranteed to last for a really long time.
GAK-ELK now has a slate shingle line, TruSlate. TruSlate shingles
are lighter weight and less expensive than original stale. On
an old fahioned slate roof, half of each slate is never seen,
because it's tucked under the peice above it. GAF-ELK replaced
this wasted slate with a high tech waterproofing material. With
this ingenious design, the TruSlate system can be installed on
almost any roof - at a fraction of the cost of old-fashioned slate.
Plus, TruSlate is backed by a lifetime warranty. (Not to mention
the Berry's also have our 15 year workmanship warranty.) To complete
the roofing project for Robert and Ruth Ann, we also installed
our Leafproof gutter protection system. Now, their roof and gutters
are maintenance free and guaranteed for life! What more can you
ask for?!? |

Past Project done for
Robert & Diane Hesselbein
|
|
The Hesselbein's
are pasted clients of Frey Construction. We replaced some windows
for them a few years ago. So when it came time to re-roof their
home as well as replace the rest of the windows, they looked
to someone they could trust - Frey Construction! Enrgy efficiency
was a top priority for Robert and Diane, so we made sure to
provide them with the options that would give them a more energy
efficient home, all while improving the appearance of their
home.
For the Hesselbein
roofing project, they knew they needed to replace their existing
cedar shake roof. Robert and Diane liked the look of the cedar
shakes, but they did not want to replace it every 20 years.
With that in mind, Frey was able too offer them a solution that
would last for the life of their home...a Gerard stone coated
steel roof.
To begin the
project, our roofing crew went to work by raising the roof deck
with 2x4's and creating a secondary roof vent system. The new
venting system completely eliminates the chances for issues
with ice dams. From there, we installed the Gerard Stone coated
steel shingles. The new shingles have the look of cedar shakes
without the maintenance. Gerard steel roofing systems offer
lower insurance costs, hail and wind proof, as well as fire
proof - not to mention it is accompanied by a lifetime warranty
- for the life of the home! (plus, Frey's famous 15-year workmanship
warranty!)
With the lifetime
warranty that Gerard stone coated steel roofing systems offers,
Frey Construction is starting to work with churches and government
buildings. As long as the building is standing - it is covered
by the warranty. For more details on the Gerard roofing system,
visit our website: www.freyconstruction.com/metalroofing.htm
We would like
to congratulate the "Happy Hesselbein's" on their
new roofing system. We would also like to send out a HUGE thank
you to Robert and Daine for being in our commercial that can
be seen on wkowtv.com under the Home Connections. Your kind
words were so touching and we appreciate you taking the time
to share your experience with Frey Construction! You will forever
be a part of our remodeling family!!

Project done for
Robert & Donna Oschner |
|
|
Robert and
Donna Oschner have been chosen as our September 08 Client of the
Month. We first met them late last year when they first contacted
us for their remodel project - a complete exterior remodel and
some interior work. After contacting several contractors, they
chose Frey Construction for their project because of the quality
work that the saw in other homes we've done. The Oschner home
has been in their family since the 18th Century, so they were
very concerned with the final look of their home. With the help
of our design software, we were able to show them exactly what
their home would look like upon completion... prior to even starting!
With the click of a button, we were able to change their roof,
siding, and overall exterior of their home. To begin the Oschner's
project, we removed their existing roof and installed our new
Decra shingles - a granulated galvanized steel roof system with
a 50 year warranty. We also opened up the soffits to improve air
flow. New insulated was also added into the attic space while
we had the roof tore off. Once the roof was completed, we removed
the existing siding and installed our CraneBoard siding - an insulated
vinyl siding with a lifetime warranty. Our crews also installed
new Gorell windows - which have been named the Energy Star Partner
of the Year for the past 4 consecutive years, and they are also
backed with a lifetime warranty! To complete the exterior work,
we then added our Absolute Gutter System - the Ultimate Water
Dispersing System. Scott developed this gutter system, which is
designed specifically for our Wisconsin weather. After we were
completed with the exterior of the Oschner's home, they couldn't
resist the temptation to have us fix up a few things on the interior
of the home. With their help, we opened up the parlor with a huge
sliding door, added a closet and also re-plastered two rooms.
Then, we installed some black walnut flooring that Robert hand
planed down - it looks amazing! From all the product choices the
Oschner's went with, it was no secret that energy efficiency was
a concern. So, to complete the project, we installed a coal boiler
to heat their house and shed. With the use of a coal boiler, Robert
and Donna should save half the amount of money that they would
normally be spending to heat their home. After installing a coal
boiler in the Oschner home, Scott also installed one in his house.
With fuel prices as high as they are, coal boilers are the future
in heating! Frey Construction is now a dealer for Alternate Heating
Systems - Coal Boilers. Now, with the help of Fuchs Trucking,
we ship coal from the East Coast. Just imagine - heating your
house for half the price as LP and without the hassle of chopping
wood. |

Project done for
Irmgard Brux |
|
|
We were proud
to annouce our November Client of the Month, Irmgard Brux. We
recently completed a basement remodel and re-roofed her house.
It was a pleasure working with her and her project turned out
beautifully.
We were especially excited about this project because we were
able to introduce two new products to her! The first was a new
type of flooring that we used in Irmgard's new family room. The
second was a new type of gutter protection. In the basement remodel,
we created a large family room area, home for a future bar, as
well as an additional bathroom. The flooring that we installed
in the basement was Earthscapes vinyl flooring. This new product
really looks like wood, but has a great feel to it...perfect for
basements!
We also replaced the roof on Irmgard's home. Her home had been
one of the many homes that was hit by the hail storms last year.
To begin the project, we tore off the existing shingles and carefully
inspected the roof deck for futher hail damage. From there, we
installed a new roofing system. To further complete the project,
we installed a new product on her gutters! This new product is
a "sister" product to our ever-popular Leafproof gutter
protection system. This new gutter protection is called Diamond
Pro. In the beautiful country setting that the Brux home is on,
one thing was certain...she needed some sort of gutter protection
with all the trees that surround her home. The Diamond Pro product
is a great product...keeps leaves and debris out of the gutters,
fits onto the existing gutters, made of durable aluminum and can
handle any downpour.
Congratulations Irmgard! Welcome to our Remodeling Family! |

Project done for
Phil & Patricia La Forge |
|
After researching
several companies in and around the Madison area, Phil and Patricia
chose Frey Construction for their roofing, siding, and gutter
project. They, like many of their neighbors were hit with the
hail storms this past spring. With the hail storms come the
storm chasing companies...and Phil and Patricia heard all of
the horror stories that many of the residents of the Madison
area were dealing with. To
assure their safety, the LaForge’s did their homework...and
found Frey Construction online. From our website, they saw that
we were a local, reputable company that stands behind our workmanship
and materials.
Along with
Phil and Patricia, we worked closely with their insurance company
and negotiated a settlement that everyone was comfortable with.
From that point, our roofing crew paid a visit to the LaForge
home. The crew tore off the existing shingles and inspected
the roof deck for further hail damage. Upon removing the roofing
materials, our crew was careful to protect the landscaping that
surrounded the home. This was a large concern for Phil and Patricia
because of the large investment that goes into landscaping.
A new roof system was then installed, complete with Elk Prestique
40-Year Shingles in weatherwood. The roof vents were also upgraded
to our ShingleVent II and Ice and Watershield protection was
added in the eaves and valleys.
Our siding
crew then went to work on replacing the existing vinyl siding
with our CraneBoard Insulated siding. Phil and Patricia wanted
to keep the original color scheme in tact, so we matched the
color of the existing with CraneBoard’s Pearl and added
Bone colored accents. A subtle change that creates a dramatic
appearance. Other than the color of the siding, Phil and Patricia
also wanted a richer wood look and they like the triple 6”
siding that CraneBoard offered, complete with a R-4 energy efficiency.
To complete
the LaForge project, our gutter crew then went to work on installing
a new gutter system. To top off the gutters, 3x4 downspouts
and big mouth outlets were added.
Now, Phil and
Patricia can rest assure that not only is their home protected
with some of the best products available today - their home
is also protected by our 15-year workmanship warranty, as well
as all of the manufacturer material warranties. What more could
you ask for?
